The simplest grain on the table. White jasmine rice is the easiest of all rices to digest and the natural foil for the bolder confinement soups and braises. Many mothers in week one prefer it over brown rice while the digestive system is still settling.

Jasmine rice 香米

Method · 做法

Rinse the rice in a bowl, swirling and draining, twice (until water runs mostly clear).

Drain. Combine with 1¼ cups (300ml) of fresh water in a pot or rice cooker.

Stovetop: bring to a boil, reduce to the lowest simmer, cover tightly, and cook 13 to 15 minutes. Off heat, leave covered for 10 minutes.

Rice cooker: standard white-rice setting, about 18 minutes.

Fluff with a fork before serving.
