A small evening sweet bowl. In TCM both lotus seeds and lily bulb are calming ingredients, traditionally eaten to support sleep and ease anxiousness. A welcome end to a long postpartum day.

Method · 做法
1
Soak lotus seeds for 30 minutes. Pop each one open and remove the green bitter core (this is non-negotiable: the core makes the dessert bitter).
2
Soak the lily bulb 20 minutes; rinse.
3
Combine lotus seeds, lily bulb, and dates with 1L water. Bring to a boil, reduce to a steady simmer for 40 to 50 minutes until the lotus seeds are tender.
4
Stir in rock sugar in the last 5 minutes. Serve warm.
